POSITION PURPOSE

  • Assist the Director of Visitor Experience (DVE) in planning and production of events (we call them “gatherings” at the Ranch).
  • Support DVE in providing guest services at “gatherings” for staff and guests.

JOB-RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Overview:

TomKat Ranch Educational Foundation is a mission-based 501(c)(3) organization based at TomKat Ranch in Pescadero, California. This role is to support the Gathering for Action program that brings people together for meaningful conversations to catalyze the transition to a regenerative agriculture system. We welcome people to learn, share, and act together by hosting convenings, meetings, and field walks.

Duties described below are examples and not meant to be an exhaustive or all-inclusive list: 

  • Production, set-up, and strike for events
  • Communicate with vendors and ranch staff
  • Coordinate lodging and guest services needs
  • Manage guest services and staff supplies
  • Collaborate with DVE to provide electronic communications for staff and guests. (Example: Invitations to visitors.)

Opportunity to participate in the following, depending on skills and workload:

  • Floral design using ranch provided plants
  • Harvest produce for use at events
  • Lead field walks with native plant knowledge
  • Participate in artist retreats
  • Assist set up for equine programs

Preferred Skills:

  • Manage time and duties while working independently
  • Assist in growth of GFA communications e.g, invitations, outreach materials

Essential Attributes:

  • Service oriented with understanding that hours are flexible and can involve evenings and weekends
  • Computer literate and able to use multiple computer applications and programs
  • Comfortable engaging and speaking with groups of people in a public setting
  • Embraces diverse  cultures of coworkers and visitors
  • Willing to grow personally and professionally
  • Willing to embrace Regenerative Agricultural concepts
DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Report to the Director of Visitor Experiences  or their delegate
  • Work 5 days, 40 hours per week, may be asked to work evenings and/or weekends. Non-exempt employees receive overtime for hours over 40 or days over 5 per week. 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly wage commensurate with experience and education.  Wage range $24.00 – $28.00 per hour.
