Our goal is to co-exist with nature and all of the components of the natural ecosystems around us, including predators, while also protecting our livestock. In this document we review non-lethal methods for co-existing with predators, primarily mountain lions and coyotes, at TomKat Ranch.
Climate-smart conservation directly addresses climate change along with other environmental threats such a habitat loss and pollution while promoting nature-based solutions to benefit wildlife and people.
To address the future of cattle ranching and ecological stewardship on TomKat Ranch in a rapidly changing climate, we conducted a scenario planning exercise. For this exercise, we explored what the future climate and environment would be like 35 years in the future (2050) and what steps the ranch could take now to ensure that TomKat Ranch continues to produce high quality animal products for consumers, restore ecological processes, increase biological diversity, sequester carbon, and inspire sustainable ranch practices in the future.
